My mother was not thrilled when I decided to go natural. Why don’t you just press your hair, she would suggest. The funny thing is that two of my brothers have locs. I would always go and watch the Little Mermaid in my brother’s room over and over until I feel asleep. He would take a loc and tickle me in my ear to wake me up.
In the early 90s my older brother had his locs on the top of his head. The sides were shaved. Now, locs for many have transformed to almost a metro sexual style. Don’t tell him I said that!!
Locs, in my opinion have “levels”. When deciding to loc, it’s super important to plan ahead to achieve the desired look. Please note that one level is not better than the other, just different styles!Read More

I love diversity. This week I had two incidents that made me “question my position”.
Incident One I went to the beach with some new people. On the way to the beach we stopped at a rest stop. One of the ladies was very concerned she didn’t have a brush—neither did the convenience store. I reassured her that stores on the boardwalk would have one. Whew—she gave a big sigh of relief.
