I think a lot about nature verses nurture. Who would we be with a strong support system vs a dysfunctional family. Are we destined to be who we are, or does our environment mold who we are? Do you have a big chop, or thinking about taking the plunge? Beautiful Jean Norris and Renee Neufville of the early 90s R&B group Zhane rock their low dos with style! Coming from a large family, populated by mostly women, hair is discussed on a daily basis. My earliest member is being 4 or 5 walking to my grandmother’s house to get my hair pressed. She radiates calmness and inner peace.
Although I have an obsession with hair, it is important to come back to the middle. I am pro-natural for several reasons, and strongly choose to keep my hair natural…however I will press-n-curl my hair if I choose, or even add some braided extensions.
Why? Because I am not my hair…. but the skin that lives within….
