OMG - I can’t believe I have not featured Jill Scott for musical Wednesday! Whew—I’m speechless. Any way, this video just makes me smile.
It reminds me of my college days in Philly. I would, like Jill Scott, randomly tie cloth around myself. It worked back then.
This week’s musical inspiration is AFRO inspired…
Jill Scott - A Long Walk
Yes, it is that time again…to set goals, and yes, accomplish them!
It seems every year, people look in the mirror, list their dissatisfaction…and vow to do the opposite. I think the top New Years Resolutions are weight, smoking, financial stability, etc.
How can one stay on track? Set realistic goals…
Goals should be
· From the Heart – If its from the heart, you are more likely to be more passionate, and devoted to the task at hand
· Multitask – Set several goals, even the ones you think are unattainable
· Quantify – Be specific my measuring, and setting a time frame for your goal.
· Write It Down – Write it into existence
· Revisit & Readjust – Check in with yourself, what action steps will bring you closer to your goals?
· Get Inspired – READ, do research to get you closer to your goals.
· Accountability - Tell the cheerleader of you life to keep you on track.
· Stay Positive – Goals are just guides, You Can Do it!
I came across a CD for Lizz Wright, and I was like uh..
never heard of Ms. Wright.
The more research, the more I am taken back by her natural beauty. Even her makeup seems minimum, yet she is so radiant. This week’s inspiration is ...

Lizz Wright - Open Your Eyes, You Can Fly
Never be afraid to love
Never be afraid to just be
Catch the way & change the doubt
Have a courage to be free
Don’t gad your eyes with others lies
See only what You wanna? see
Duplicate the simple truth
Have a courage to be free
Open Your eyes, you can fly
Open Your eyes, you can fly
You can fly
You can fly

I keep hearing about tax cuts and healthcare but not to much about the current acts that impact immigration. On the news immigration, at times seems like a issue of the others. The truth is, there are several Americans that are undocumented. Imagine being brought to the US by your parents as a child. You only know the US as your home. The problem is, being undocumented does not allow you the ability to legally work, access financial aid, vote or other basic needs we take for granted as US citizens. Read actual stories, or share your own.
We have an opportunity to change this for about 65,000 youth…
About the Dream Act according to Wiki:The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act (the DREAM Act) is a piece of proposed federal legislation in the United States that was first introduced in the United States Senate on August 1, 200 and most recently re-introduced there and the United States House of Representatives on March 26, 2009.
This bill would provide certain undocumented and deportable alien students who…
* graduate from US high schools
* good moral character
* arrived in the U.S. illegally as minors
* have been in the country continuously and illegally for at least five years prior to the bill’s enactment
The opportunity to earn conditional permanent residency if they complete two years in the military or two years at a four year institution of higher learning. The students would obtain temporary residency for a six year period.
Within the six year period, a qualified student must have “acquired a degree from an institution of higher education in the United States or [have] completed at least 2 years, in good standing, in a program for a bachelor’s degree or higher degree in the United States,” or have “served in the uniformed services for at least 2 years and, if discharged, [have] received an honorable discharge.”[2]
