I had the opportunity to meet Felice at Duafe Lifestyle Expo this past February. I was attracted to the unique pieces adorning her table. I copped beautiful earrings from Felice, who is a veteran to natural hair and owner of www.NubianJewels.Biz. Felice shares her business was born with the need of creative expression…

Ledisi is a R&B singer-songwriter from New Orleans. Her first name means “to bring forth” or “to come here” in Yoruba. In 2009, Ledisi released her fourth album Turn Me Loose, which earned her 2 Grammy nominations.
I was late on the Ledisi train. I saw her in concert a few months back and was in aww. The next day I purchased her CD Turn Me Loose. I realize that I like music in which the artist uses the art of song writing to find their true inner voice. ‘Higher Than This’ is a great example of Ledisi getting to a place of peace with herself. I love how the video features little Ledisi and her growth. We all experience self doubt, especially when changing our appearance. What can be higher than understanding you were made perfectly, and accepting it?
Ledisi really has stunning locs, and mastered the up do.

I just finished watching the Rihanna / Diana Sawyer interview. I am late in seeing the interview, but I am happy I took the time to find it online. I respect Rhianna for being truthful about going back to Chris Brown then realizing her mistake and ending the relationship. From the interview it sounds like Rhianna let her pride get in the way of putting herself first. As women, it is soo difficult for us to put ourselves first. I find myself taken care of people around me, better than I take care of myself.
Speaking of Rhianna, I had an impromptu trip to sunny Barbados. Unfortunately it rained, and Rhianna was not there to shield me from the rain with her umbrella, umbrella, eh. Kidding aside, I had a great time on my second trip to the small nation.
Country Side
We spent a lot of our time in the country on the family’s farm. When we weren’t on the farm, we were visiting friends and family. I did not meet one female relative or family friend with natural hair.

Saturday night I saw Ledisi and Musiq here in Richmond. All I can saw is wow! Amazing performances from both artists! I have to admit that I hadn’t listened to Ledisi’s CD before. I heard her songs on the radio, but never looked into the artist. After listening to her live, I ran out and got her newest CD. I am blown away and inspired. Inspired to love me, and build an even stronger relationship with God. Its my kind of music, uplifting.
