Happy Holidays!
Merry Christmas!

This holiday season, I had the opportunity to meet Donna Deeken, aka The Snow Queen. (You might have also seen her on wife swap a few years ago). Mrs. Deeken is known for her vital role in Miller and Rhodes’ Snow Land (a former Richmond Virginia Department Store). She made sure Santa always knew the children’s name! Her work has made her a local legend.
I didn’t get to fussy over the holidays…
Maria is one of the first people I meet at Temple University. Starting from freshman orientation, we’ve connected and been very good friends from that point on. Maria not only has gorgeous hair, but she is an amazing graphic design artist. Read below for her video journal of her new growth challenge…

I am starting a new hair growth journey… I’ve been natural for 6 years now and i want growth now!
Below are videos that talk about what has inspired me, and how I am now determined to get healthier, longer hair.

Mae of Natural Chica posted the following Chunky Twist Video. I loved it so much, I wanted to share it with all of you!
Happy Stylin’ Sunday!!
The first few years I was natural I was really lost. I would wear mostly ‘fros and scarfs, or variations of the two. If I was lucky my roomie would braid my hair. Sometimes I would rock braids just in the front, with a ‘fro in the back. A few times she even did Allen Iverson skeleton braids.
My mom was not very fond of my uneven ‘fros, or my black t-shirt cover up bun. She would ask “Why don’t you go press your hair”.
I didn’t understand her dislike at first. I have always known her to have short hair. Half of the time it was natural.

A few weeks before graduation, my mom asked, “Should I get a perm or cut my hair?” I of course said, NATURAL!
