So, you’re natural now, and you want every other black girl to be natural like you?
It’s not an uncommon reaction when you discover the wonders of your curls and coils. Your natural hair can do things that your permed hair could never have done. The online community of naturals spurs you to take your message of natural hair care to the streets.
But if you aren’t careful, your helpful mission could turn into a beastly re-run, the kind that no one wants to revisit. If every other word out of your mouth gets glares and constant backlash, you might want to consider refining your approach.
Here’s how you can retain your status as a natural hair ambassador without coming off like a jerk:

In my much younger days, I remember hearing adults describe how they’ll never forget when…
When, always followed by, the story of a tragic event.
The sadness in their eyes, and the silence as they reminisce was so distant for me.
Our generation now knows this feeling too well. Remembering on this 10th Anniversary of 9-11 has brought up these feelings.
We would be remiss, not to highlight some heroes…

“How to Stay Natural”
How to Stay Natural
Self Love and Preservation
“How to Stay Natural”…. Okay, most of you are wondering, “Who is this trying to tell me how to stay natural? I got this!” Well you probably do. BUT! Not without issue. I have been natural for 19 – 20 years (wearing locs for 13 yrs). In this time I have seen natural hair come, go, re-vamp, re-energize, and re-store itself. I have seen the lawsuits around the country via the news; the self-esteem issues of women rise and fall, the politics of “good” vs. “bad” hair, the negative connotations and uber affirmations.
The “sistahood” seems like a club that you automatically become indoctrinated to when you start transitioning from relaxed to natural. The key is you have to follow through with your journey to be an “official” member. With that being said, let us not forget the conscious level of everyone is not the same. Many women transition as a rite of passage to self-awareness, others for the style, while others are due to health issues. Seeing women look like ourselves, presenting confidence and reassurance, hopefully will give you insight to what you want and strive to be as a woman – a natural woman. At the end of the day we realize that we are just as beautiful if not more beautiful naturally.

Yes, it is that time again…to set goals, and yes, accomplish them!
It seems every year, people look in the mirror, list their dissatisfaction…and vow to do the opposite. I think the top New Years Resolutions are weight, smoking, financial stability, etc.
How can one stay on track? Set realistic goals…
Goals should be
· From the Heart – If its from the heart, you are more likely to be more passionate, and devoted to the task at hand
· Multitask – Set several goals, even the ones you think are unattainable
· Quantify – Be specific my measuring, and setting a time frame for your goal.
· Write It Down – Write it into existence
· Revisit & Readjust – Check in with yourself, what action steps will bring you closer to your goals?
· Get Inspired – READ, do research to get you closer to your goals.
· Accountability - Tell the cheerleader of you life to keep you on track.
· Stay Positive – Goals are just guides, You Can Do it!
When I think ghetto wig, I think messy, unmanageable, plastic like. Something with little class or taste. Sometimes the term ghetto is typically used in relation to something broken, and fixed cheaply. But depending on who does it, it may be considered green. We can probably talk for days on the meaning of ghetto. Any hoot…
I quickly forget other people’s perceptions of ghetto. For some, people see a Black person, and think ghetto. What about Sasha and Malia?
During the day, I am a hotel sales woman. A local country club called our hotel wanting to collaborate. She explained how impressed she was with our Bellman. She explained he was an tall African-American handsome man. She continued to say she was so impressed with him. He was polite, seemed to love his job and CLEAN.
