Next entry: SCOSS your hair, all the cool kids are doing it!
Previous entry: My Bros Locs
This story was released in ‘05, but I wanted to share. Two twins were born, one Black, one White due to a fertility clinic’s error. Eleven years later, Ann Curry interviews the family about their experience.
When watching the video I kept thinking, why is the Black twin’s name Coon? Does that derogatory term not apply for the Dutch? I stand corrected, it is spelled Koen, and his brother is Tuen.
I just can’t imagine, what life is like for Koen. Yes, I understand what it is like to be a minority in my country, but to be a minority in my own home and family? This seems unbearable.
I strongly believe, if you are unable to have children naturally, adoption should be your only option. There are so many kids in need of a home. Besides, look what human error can do!
In the video, the mother describes Koen’s self hatred of his curls, and skin color. Outside of skin color, hair is a strong characteristic of being of African decent. Koen, as a pre-teen started to embraces his curls by growing his hair longer for the world to see.
With that being said, if Koen at the age of 11, a minority in his family can embrace his curls…. So can you : - )
Koen is an inspiration by just being himself.

This is a beautiful and amazing story. There is a beautiful message behind why this human error happened. What we humans may call human error I believe its God working in a mystical way. God bless both of the boys.
Thanks for sharing.
