Natural Hair Inspiration

Happy Independence Day!!

I am a little late but the 4th was soo much fun!! I was around different naturals that had a lot to share about their fabulous hair.  You already know Stacy, but I would like to introduce you to Loren.  A Natural Hair Inspiration!!

Loren has been natural for about two years, but had her last relaxer about three years ago.  She loves her kinnks and said she cannot see herself ever going back to a relaxer.

I did my best to paraphrase our hair discussion.

The first couple of times I saw Loren she was rockin kinky twist extensions.  The first time I saw Loren’s Natural hair was at my Aunt’s New Year Eve Party.  I saw her across the room in a crowd of many.  I told her I loved her natural hair because she does not blend in.  She definitely stands out from the crowd.

She agreed that’s why she likes her natural do, but she has also been called Krusty the Clown, Side Show Bob or any other big-haired character you can think of.  She also explained her teenage daughter does not like it and asks her to tone it down.

Black folk approach her with many compliments but end with, “Oh I could never go natural, my hair is a different texture.”  I laughed out loud because this is a universal comment all naturals hear.

Why did you go natural? It was by accident, Loren explained. After taking out kinky twist extensions, her permed hair began to tangle with new growth.  She continued to wear the kinky twist while gradually cutting off the perm.  Then she had a wow moment; and realized how much she liked her new hair texture.

Products Loren uses… Cream of Nature Shampoo Cholesterol Cantu Shea Butter

There is also no magic product that will change your hair type or texture.  Why pay $40 for a jar of product?

Hair Routine Do not detangle wet hair or dry hair.  Detangle with product like cholesterol that will provide slip.

Many people have difficulty achieving length because they are not properly detangling.  Once you figure out how to keep your hair free of knots, you will quickly achieve length.

Thanks for being a hair inspiration Loren!
