Natural Hair Web-Series

I do not subscribe to cable television.  Some may think this odd, but I use it as somewhat of a safety net.  It started out as a way to save money, but the truth is I can’t handle it!  Once I turn on the TV, I end up watching it for at least four hours.  Any show or series becomes an obsession.  I keep telling my self, ‘You must see what happens next!’  It doesn’t really matter that I don’t have cable.  I still find things to watch in other outlets like netflix.

My newest entertainment fix is Black Women’s Entertainment Network.  I had no clue how popular Black web-series are!

I found a few series featuring characters with natural hair that caught my eye…

The videos posted below are for mature audiences...
* Afrocity: I love these ladies hair!  The series is still in “coming soon” status, but you can visit the promotional video on the official Afrocitytv.com website.

*Chick: A Web Series About One Woman’s Quest To Become a Superhero.  I am interest in this series because Superhero seems to be a euphemism for finding your authentic self.  The character Chic played by actress Kai Soremekum said something like…You ever know your destined for greatness, but feel like a loser at the same time? There are about 20 episodes you can catch on youtube.com/chickspirit

*The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl: The awkward black girl character is played by actress Issa Rae.  I can definitely relate to feeling like my awkwardness does not match by blackness. Wait, thats an awkward statement. The hallway episode rings true in my mind at work.  The official website is awkwardblackgirl.com/series.  Issa Rae was also featured on Clutch Magazine recently.
