September 11

In my much younger days, I remember hearing adults describe how they’ll never forget when…

When, always followed by, the story of a tragic event.

The sadness in their eyes, and the silence as they reminisce was so distant for me.

Our generation now knows this feeling too well.  Remembering on this 10th Anniversary of 9-11 has brought up these feelings.

We would be remiss, not to highlight some heroes…

Firefighters and Josephine Harris

Firefighters found Josephine Harris in ton the 27th floor of the twin towers while attempting to exit the building.  They helped her down the stairs.
The elderly woman, 59 at the time stopped the men on the 5th floor and begged them to leave her.  She was so exhausted.  Shortly after their halt, the building began to collapse.  Miraculously, their location in the North Tower Stairwell B maintained a pocket from the destruction.  For this reason, the firemen consider Josephine Harris their angel.  If she did not stop, at that moment, they are sure they would not have survived.  More @ Nymag.com

Flight 93

After people on the flight had heard on their cell phones of the crash into the twin towers and pentagon – they decided to fight back.  While they knew this was the end of their journey, they worked to prevent the death of more innocent people. More @ Wiki

After the tragic day in 2001, as a country we have come together as a whole, more now, than ever before.

Prior to 9-11, being anti-patriotic was patriotic.  The older I get, the more patriotic my peers and myself have become.

Like any love, love for country is bitter sweet.  I have my reservations at times howver…
