The Bond We Share

I decided to take a tax class.  Three times a week when I head to the 6pm-9pm session to study 1040 forms I ask myself, WHY?!  Why?! WHY?!!  I am working on balancing my time :o)

I have two encouraging Natural Hair Stories this week!

Wal-Mart
A Wal-Mart greeter stopped me telling me she just went Natural and wished she did it years ago.  Her 27 year old daughter just went natural as well and they are all very enthusiastic.  She was a charming lady with short silky coils.  She explained she is not going to loc, but wanted to savor her new found natural hair by experimenting with different styles.  I was so blown away when she ended the conversation with, a curtsy and said; “have a great day my Nubian Queen”.

Wow, the bond us naturals share is very special.

After posting this story on our facebook page, a few of you said:

* “yes we do! I encourage all my sisters to go natural whenever I run into someone who wants more information about going natural i always find the time to talk to them about how much it means to love the natural self” ~Nina

* “♥ it! It is such a special connection smile” ~Evonne

* “Yes .. I get the nappy nod almost daily LOL!!” ~Loren

The Business World
People, like Sheri Shepard (The View) would have you believing that Natural Hair is unaccepted in the business world, that it makes it harder to survive.  It just is not true.

Today was very rainy, cloudy and cold, just plain miserable.  Making small talk, big hair was a topic for many of the professionals in the mostly Caucasian, middle age crowd.  My hair is frizzing up, or my hair is flat.

Any way, I have been a part of this marketing association for a little over a year now.  One of the board members stopped me, he said he always wanted to tell me how much he LOVED MY HAIR!  I was so astonished, I thought he was going to tell me something business related, but no he just wanted me to know how great my hair was.  I feel pretty.

My good hair stories definitely out weigh the bad.

Natural Hair is taking over babeee!

Now I am off to study, I have a Quiz coming up!

Every women needs to thank Chris Rock for what he did with this documentary.  It is the truth…accept it.  There are so many women going bald because they are trying to keep up with every new weave or hair extension hair style.

Enjoy your natural hair as well.  Ain’t nothing wrong with changing up your look occasionally, but please appreciate what you were born with as well!!
